RCR Hempstead Logistics Park is now open for rail business. The 137 acre site (http://hempstead.rcrrailco.com/) located in Hempstead & Waller County will serve national and international grade manifest and transload firms looking to locate in the northwest quadrant of Houston with rail service from Class I Union Pacific Railroad. The park is located in an Opportunity Zone designated area.
In a news release, RCR Hempstead indicated that the facility is capable of handling multiple, non-hazardous commodities and can be customized to fit customers’ needs. The rail logistics hub will assist companies in West Houston, Waller County and other localities and is strategically located to major highways and industry. There are no public parks on the west side of Houston for the majority of Houston’s rail freight tends to be focused on the east side of the city, close to the port.
Last October R. J. Corman Switching Company, LLC was awarded a contract to be the switching and transloading provider for the 137-acre multi-modal Hempstead Logistics Park.
RCR Hempstead said that more than 5 million people live within 100 miles of the park and its expected that the rail park will spur business and economic development, divert hundreds of truck routes and provide much-needed employment in this fast-growing region.
Waller County is experiencing a tremendous amount of industrial development as the market continues to grow and the Hwy 290 corridor is positioned for long term growth. With the growth of Houston, the demand for rail freight tonnage will increase and RCR www.rcrrailco.com said they are prepared to expand and grow as needed.
