$130M worth of high-speed rail design work will be done at selected firms' risk
Who’s gonna stop progress in its tracks, especially when it’s counted in the billions of dollars?
Texas is supposed to be wide open for business, which is reason enough to roll out the welcome mat for a private high-speed rail line between Dallas and Houston. The $10 billion-plus project, to be funded by private money, could have tremendous upside with little risk to the public.
It would boost the economy, relieve traffic congestion, connect people in giant population centers and demonstrate that cutting-edge transit can work — in Texas, no less. It also might lead to high-speed rail between Dallas and Fort Worth.
