Georgetown Rail Equipment Company (GREX), which was founded 27 years ago in their namesake Texas city, will become part of Loram on January 1st a company long known for its rail inspection and maintenance operations.
From the 1940's when Edwin Brazelton Snead founded Texas Crushed Stone to its longstanding presence in the quarry and rail industry, Georgetown Rail Equipment has been a leader in rail material handling and track inspection services, filing a total of 92 patents in 12 countries.
With the impending name change, GREX's Greg Grissom will be President of Loram Technologies with Nate Bachman as Vice President of Sales and Business Development and Jeff Stone as Vice President Operations. Vennie Dyavanapalli, formerly Loram’s Director of Friction Management, has been appointed Vice President Engineering and Product Development for Loram Technologies.
Loram Technologies will headquarter in Georgetown with expanded office and manufacturing facilities that will include fabrication and services. Loram’s product line includes rail grinding, ballast maintenance, material handling, track inspection services, friction management and structure monitoring.
Texas Crushed Stone, which still operates out of Georgetown, continues to be the most productive limestone quarry in the U.S.
Members of the Snead family also founded Georgetown Railroad in 1958 to enable hauling of limestone from Georgetown to Austin.
