Surveys show that a majority of Texans want high speed rail service between our cities. However, there are some vocal rural elected leaders who would dash all hopes of creating a high speed line between Dallas and Houston that would be privately financed. Texas Central wants to acquire a 100 foot wide right-of-way for a double track railway that would be built primarily next to tall electric utility towers. Using the electric utility corridor the impact to the environment would be minimal compared to a wide interstate highway. The 220 mile bullet train would connect North Texas to the Houston area in 90 minutes.
Like Texas Central Railway says on their website timetoridetx.com "Texas Deserves a Transportation Solution for the 21st Century".
However our state and federally elected leaders have been strangely silent while the naysayers have been active in trying to kill the project. Perhaps your elected officials need a kick in the butt to remind them the public wants trains and not only between Dallas and Houston.
We urge you to visit the website timetoridetx.com and let your elected leaders know you support high speed rail. It's a $10 billion dollar plus boost to the Texas economy and will create thousands of good paying jobs.
